What Causes the Ring of Death?
The so-called Ring of Death problem with the Xbox 360 occurs when the heat inside the console goes up to very high temperatures during use, causing stress in the ball grid array solder joints of the motherboard and CPU. Too much stress eventually causes the joints to break. Microsoft is still in the process of seeking ways to improve the design, construction and materials of the console to prevent overheating and breakage. In the meantime, it is offering Xbox 360 ring of death repair service as a temporary solution to the problems encountered by so many users of the game console.
