Waterproofing a Basement - When You Should Apply a Waterproofing Compound
It seems like its obvious when you should apply a waterproofing compound when waterproofing a basement. However, many people do not get it right. They use a waterproofing compound prematurely. And it works — but only temporarily.
In order to avoid having to redo the process of waterproofing a basement all over again, make sure that you first moisten the wall and floor with a fine mist so the areas are damp before you apply the waterproofing compound. Also, remove old paint before applying the waterproofing compound. This is because most waterproofing compounds will not adhere to paint.
