Chastity

In mormon doctrine, being chaste is one of the most important commandments God has given His children. It is because sexual relations have in them the powers of procreation that they are so sacred. Creation is God’s power, part of which He has granted us in becoming parents. However, these powers should only be used between a man and a woman who are legally married. This is because every child born into the world deserves a whole, loving family. In mormon doctrine, however, chastity includes more than simply abstaining from sexual relations until one is married. Chastity means avoiding all types of intimate relations before marriage. Chaste kissing is permitted before marriage, but that is all.
