Do Registry Cleaners Really Work?

I was talking to my friend the other day in the library.  He had been having some computer problems.  His year-old laptop had been crashing, freezing, and giving him a lot of trouble.  He wasn’t quite sure what the problem was, but it had all started when he had updated a driver for his video card.

I asked him if he had used a registry cleaner software program.  He wasn’t sure if they even worked.  I told him that the best way to do a Windows XP registry repair was to use a program like RegCure.  It seemed to me that the problems were being caused by conflicting files in the Windows registry.  This can be a cause for a lot of problems, and since many people don’t even know what the registry is, it can be difficult to pinpoint the problem.

I told him that I personally use RegCure on my laptop to keep everything running smooth.  I always make sure to run it after I uninstall a program.  This way I know that all the leftover files are completeley removed from my system before proceeding.
